Rumor has it that the Stone's are playing the fest as well. Last time I saw LL, for the encore they played "It's all over now" w/ Paul Cebar in Tampa.

The last I've heard is that the Stones will be playing on Thursday, May 2nd. Word has it that they will limit the attendance to 50,000 with tickets going for $175. I have not heard whether there will be other bands playing that day. My guess is that there will be a few other acts but that the Stones will close out with no other stages going on at the same time. The schedule comes out in January.

Shit, how could I miss the irony of a chance to do a hit and run on an ambulance chaser.Just kidding folks.

I know you said "just kidding" but to set the record straight Jesse is a fine lawyer who defends the defenseless like little old ladies against fraudulent goons and tenants against evil landlords. Sure he'll help you out if the big corporation tries to ignore the harm they've done or bury you under litigation but mostly he gets along not by chasing ambulances but by serving justice. Plus he's a stand up guy who puts up with my crap on a regular basis. Just sayin'.

Open Forum / Louie's book
« Last post by njwolf on Yesterday at 09:42:09 am »
I purchased Louie's book (Good Morning Aztlan) and wanted to provide some information on it.
It's a collection of just over 100 song lyrics, poems, and other writings. Each is accompanied by one of Louie's drawings. In addition, Louie provides a short introduction for each item. It reminded me of how he did the same thing for each song on the El Cancionero box set. The writings are divided into eight chapters under such headings as "Something Like Joy," "Lost Souls and Haunted Hearts" and "Something Called Love."
The final section of the book is called Reflections on Music, Art and Life. It includes a 10-page interview with Louie by David Greenberger; a three-page appreciation of Louie as a songwriter by Dave Alvin; a discussion of Louie's visual artwork by Rodoflo Arena; and an essay by singer Martha Gonzalez of Quetzal on Los Lobos and the band's role in her musical development. Louie's wife, Mary, also contributes a short essay, and there are essays by Luis Torres and Luis J. Rodriguez.
I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to any fans of the band. In addition, Amazon's listing for the book lists the book as 170 pages long. It's actually 263 pages.

Soooo, tickets to Jazzfest are gonna cost about a thousand smackers this year?Stones don't cut any slack for their opening acts, let alone the paying public. But I`m willing to bet Mick cut some slack for Grace Potter a couple tours ago
