I was there for the first weekend through Wednesday. Caught Lucinda Williams singing with the Charles Lloyd Band on the first Saturday. Fantastic! I only went to the festival one day and saved my energy for the club shows. The Foundations of Funk was a great show. The "Foundation" is the Meters rhythm section(George Porter, Jr. & Zig Modeliste). They were joined by special guests Anders Osborne, JoJo Hermann, and the Bonerama Horns. Outstanding night of music.

Lucinda and Charles Lloyd are releasing an album on June 29:

Charles LLoyd is playing the Newport fest this year.

Oh mannnnnn!! I didn't know this was happening. So excited. The short clip of Ruben on their website was enough to do it for me.

Definitely will do Cleveland - the Agora is such a beat up, historic theater. Would love to see a couple of other shows - not SF, unfortunately, but maybe Detroit? or Toronto? Minneapolis would be a dream come true...

I'm loving this. So glad I checked in. Thanks, Jim!!

Hey, Buffalo buddy don'tspookthehorse - you're not doing Cleveland?

Can't make it that Saturday.  I have super cool family that live in Pilsen (Chicago).  I've seen Tacvba at the Congress Theater and the first Ruidofest in Chicago.  Check out this picture from when they played a streetfest in Buffalo, June of 2005.  I was one of 8 people there.

AMAZING picture. Trying to remember when the x and me became big fans - probably not as early as '05, but not long after. What an opportunity.

Great photo... I love Buffalo and lived there for a bit back in the late 80s, but it is sad more folks didn't show up... it's a great music town with a very strong local scene...

One day I hope to make the NO jazz fest.
I'm a big fan of the Montreal Jazz Fest, which I've attended on many occasions, as well as the one in Ottawa.
There is another good one day fest in Boston in the late summer; the Beantown Jazz fest which usually has some good headliners....all for free.

Mike: I really encourage you -- and all music lovers -- to make it to the New Orleans Jazzfest at least once. Next year is the 50th anniversary. There are direct flights on JetBlue from Boston to NOLA with decent pricing. We are fortunate and have friends we can stay with. The biggest problem with Jazzfest has been the hotel prices, but it looks like the AirBnB thing has made it a lot more affordable.

Didn`t know they had a HOF there.Hope it doesn`t end up like the Mistake by the Lake.Starting out good, then going horribly wrong, then irrelevant. And I`m guessing the induction ceremony will be more affordable than the Joke up north. At least LL wont have to share a stage with some lame ass artists.
