This song has always been a bittersweet song for me because it outlines the struggle of what immigrants and their families face in search for a better life but it is such an honest, beautiful, and truthful song. I've known many of these same families in my lifetime and as were many of my own family members in this predicament. I wish Los Lobos would add this to their playlist for their show at Gruene Hall as a memorial to the lost souls of the tragedy that happened in San Antonio where over 50 immigrants lost their lives in the back of a sealed trailer. This tragedy made this song so much harder for me to listen to. I wonder how many people in that trailer expressed the same hope of better things to their loved ones, but perished never to return. I wonder how many wives and husbands, and loved ones trusted in them to find work and make their lives better. How many families were left behind with an ever bigger burden to bear. Please play "A Matter of Time" to honor and bring to light the struggle that continues to this day. Que viva La Raza.
