Open Forum / Re: People Supporting Artists Telethon April 11, 2020

Well, it was nice to see Dave and Louie and we made a donation to the cause. But it was a telethon, so just one song apiece, some cheesy in-between stuff, and the video was awful. The audio, though, was excellent and I enjoyed a lot of the artists, even the ones I’d never heard before.

It would be great if LL did their own livestream shows.

Howdy,

I asked Louie about Little Brother when it came out - I was hoping to hear it live. He said it probably wouldn't join the line-up as they never really played it after it was recorded. Sucks - it's a really groovy song.

Daughter. This is either a compliment to Denise or an unflattering appraisal of Dave.  :lmao:

And the donations go to help folks in the music biz, including road crews.

Howdy All,

Jonesing for live shows is a definitely a thing.

Texmaniacs are on FB every Wednesday afternoon. Michael Guerra was on tonight - said he'll do it again next Friday. Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires have been putting on some great shows daily - some really heartfelt John Prine covers this week.

Check out respective FB feeds for details.

Hey mcamp,  Right on with your sentiment.
"(Well the list is growing....along with John Prine....Wallace Roney (jazz trumpeter; age 59), Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne; age 52), "Bucky" Pizzarelli (jazz guitar; age 94...father of the other jazz guitarist John).)"

I'm noticing the various musicians and wealth of humanity that we're losing at such a fast pace.  Not to be forgotten are SNL music producer Hal Willner, as well as jazz patriarch Ellis Marsalis, trumpeter and father of Wynton and Branford (thanks for the beautiful Bird Songs dude).  Wallace Roney was fantastic and a protege of Miles Davis.  We're losing a connection to the greats and can only hope that the younger cats will carry on in their absence.
I have to wonder what the common thread is for the musicians and maybe it's nothing more than their connectivity and proximity to crowds that exposes them or is it just that we pay attention more when it's someone of notoriety?  Sure we can theorize on lifestyle and such but it's probably more about contact and health care availability to certain segments.  I don't have the answer, but I have another suggestion: check out the Miles Davis documentary on PBS American Masters and enjoy the vibe.

Very sad. And I fear we'll lose many more before this is over.
