Geez, pictures too? Hmmm...

Apple G4 Powerbook
MOTU Traveler w/ Black Lion Mods
Apogee MiniMe (out on the lend-lease program ;) )
Sound Devices MP-2
Tascam H2-P2
Edirol R-09

Neumann SKM-140 (w/ a set of AK50 caps)
ADK A 51 TLS
Couple of Shure SM57 that I've had for years
Plus the usual supply of cables, adapters, converters, clamps and squeaky toys...

Next acquisition: let's just say I know some one with a SD 744t and a tax problem...  :yack:

i'm holding it hostage in hopes that you'll come down to CA for a few shows & retrieve it
so far, i'm failing :(

i've been considering getting one of those 6-packs of 57s or 58s for a while now
why? because i'm a recording geek, and i should have a few of those. it just feels right.

You might remember the back cover of "Who Are You?" by The Who?
I first heard 'em in 84 - always want more...

Jeez, you're actually going to make me strain my brain?  I just lug that big monsterous Pelican Case to the show and then cobble something together from it's contents...alright, let's see, for mics:

Neumann SKM140s

Nakamichi CM300s (from the good ol' GD days...they haven't seen duty since Adam and Skomp went on midwest LL tour several years back)

Pre-amp:
Sound Devices MP-2

A-D Converters:
Benchmark AD2K+

Sony SBM-1

Recording Gizmos:
Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop with VX Pocket Soundcard (has coax digital input) and SoundForge 6.0 software

Tascam DA-P1 DAT Deck (acquired during one of Steve's fire sales :-)

Sony TCD-D7 and TCD-D8 DAT Decks (I have a handful of these)

Denon DTR-80P DAT Deck

And of course last but not least, as soon as Steve picks this up from the "tax problem guy" and sends it my way on his lend-lease program:
Sound Devices 744t

Okay, I'm living in fantasyland on that one but it's okay to dream really, really big, as long as I don't slobber all over the electronic toys I can't hope to own anytime soon (damn kids )   Meanwhile, I'll keep living in the stone age with a bunch of DAT decks...it won't be too long before the young taper wippersnappers will start asking "yo bro, what are those things?"

Oh, I almost forgot, I have to lug around a bunch of these to power all this crap:

EcoCharge Batteries (various sizes/voltages)

Nothing like a big pile of lead batteries to make the trek up and down the Fillmore side entrance steps a fun venture (of course always in the pouring rain)...somehow OSHA hasn't found their way to the Fillmore before...

At least he had his priorities straight (car vs. gear)...next time let's hope he gets our priorities straight instead.

Revised list (still no pictures) even though I've only recorded one show in about two years (hey...I've been busy!!)

Apple G4 Powerbook   Replaced by an Apple 2012 15" Macbook Pro

MOTU Traveler w/ Black Lion Mods   Replaced by an Apogee Ensemble

Apogee MiniMe (out on the lend-lease program ;) )   Now deeply ensconced in Humboldt County

Sound Devices MP-2 (never gonna get rid of this!)

Tascam H2-P2 (seems to have held up well)

Edirol R-09   Destroyed three of these; now have a Sony PCM-M10

Neumann SKM-140 (w/ a set of AK50 caps)...have added a set of AK30 omni caps and an AK20 figure-8 cap

ADK A 51 TLS (with the addition of the Neumann caps, these mostly stay in their case)

Couple of Shure SM57 that I've had for years

Mackie 1202 VLZ 12 (used only at home thus far)

Plus the usual supply of cables, adapters, converters, clamps and squeaky toys (the squeaky toys are mostly for the dogs. Mostly.)

Humans are the only animals that follow unstable leaders.

I can't compete with you madmen, but I got $70 out for the Tascam iM2X, and $300 on the iPod touch. I did some test recordings at various input levels and I'm pretty pleased with the results. I think I'm gonna set it at 6 and go for it. Thanks Crack for the "set it low" tip.

Interesting. That's the kind of thing that Michelle Shocked probably wishes didn't exist.  :yack:

What's the default recording format? I'd imagine it's MP3.

wav @ 16/44.

Same Cardioid Condenser microphones as the Tascam DR-40.
